Lawrence Peter Medici
Like gold that must go through the fire before it can fully shine, I came up the hard way. But the loss
of all things has taught me the value of everything, and I know the meaning of a tear. Raised in an orphanage,
then the streets of New York, jails, and prisons. I viewed my time on the outside as "visits" to collect as many
memories as possible to dwell on in a cell. The lifestyle I lived prevented me from forming any lasting friendships,
and I have never been in love or allowed anyone to love me. Through remorse and honest self-evaluation, I searched
my heart, and vowed to open it to anyone who dares to believe a man can change. I know how easy it is to categorize
a convict with some stereotype or prison story, and unfortunately, sometimes that caution is justified. But you
can tell a person's motives by what they ask for, and all I will ever ask for is what I will give, complete honesty
and trust.
My reason for requesting a friend is based on one fact, I simply don't want to be forgotten. I
apologize for being a prisoner. But I believe I can contribute to someone's life, by listening and
sharing from a heart no one has ever touched. I am full-blooded Italian, from the Bronx. As for my
"Likes and Dislikes," I like what I miss, and I dislike that. I love music, sports, exercise,
art, poetry, animals, and I also love the rain. I will reply to all letters, offering a unique
friendship, a personal diary that answers back. I have a good sense of humor, am interested in every area of life,
and will never misunderstand your care or imagine something out of context to my reality. I know I will never hug
again. There are all kinds of prisons, but through open honest sharing, without limit or condition, there is a
freedom few find. My words are all I have to give, but when was the last time someone gave you all
they have to give?
My heart is in your hands.
